A revamp to the intrusion system and much more is now live.

Time to take control or use your outposts that seem to be a little more worth fighting for now.

Intrusions are now more visible to any player that may not be involved with the power corps that hold an outpost.  This viability has been much needed for some time now. Just open the news window and you will find an Intrusion tab that displays intrusion outcome details.

You can now right click an outpost icon on the map and display details about the outpost, i.e. who controls it and details about the facilities there and the outposts stability; which is part of the intrusion 2.0 system.

I will be taking some time in the future to write about these new features.

The language I speak of are the famous four letter words. I was raised by parents that believe that an intelligent conversation can be void of such words.

Now let me be clear here. I am not saying I have never used them.

You may being saying, “What does this have to do with Meta Gaming?”. Glad you asked I will now dive into the main point behind this blog post.

Real life morals follow you every where you go even if you don’t realize it. I can say that mine follow me and are part of everything I do.

Now about meta gaming. Meta gaming comes in different forms. Spying, trolling and theft. I am going to look at each one and determine if my Real Life morals would allow me to do any of them.

Lets start with spying. If my country came to me and asked if I would spy for the good of our country, could I do it? Based on my morals I would say no. But they say it is for the greater good and your country needs you. I think I would still have to decline because I think spying is wrong.

Most people would not agree and would have no problems with it. Even in real life I think a lot of people would not have an issue with it. Those that spy in games would have no issues with it one bit. Or would they? In the real world if a spy is caught they can be thrown in a dark jail cell for the rest of their life or executed on the spot.

In a game when a spy is caught, nothing happens except for being kicked from the group the person is spying on. They then create a new character to go back or move on to a new group. Nothing happens to you in games for spying. So if you can do it in a game, can you do it in the real world knowing you could end up dead or in a dark pit for many years?

Lets look at trolling. Some may not see it as meta gaming, but I do. Would my morals stop me from being a troll?

I would have to say no. But being a troll is not in my personality and I would have to say I would suck at it. Let’s face it trolling is now an art and some can do it well and other just plan suck at it. I’m really not sure if morals are involved in this one, but since I think trolling is a part of meta gaming I thought I would talk about it.

Lets now talk about theft. I can say for sure in the real world I could never still anything. I think as a kid a took a piece of candy from the store. But of course I learned a lesson about stealing once my parents found out. So I was raised not to steal and I bring that moral with me every where I go. Even in games I could never steal or do a guild/corp theft.

So for those that can do in game theft. Can you also steal in the real world? For those who do steal in game do you steal in the real world?

If you can’t do the above in the real world because of your personal morals. What lets you sew your morals in a game to let yourself be able to spy or do theft?

I know a lot of people say “It is just pixels”.

But it is also someones hard work that you just stole, even if they are pixels. The items you took also took a lot of real world time to farm, craft, mine, harvest, run missions etc.

Spying in a game is simple, since there is no punishment for it and I can see the reason people have no issue with it. Let’s face no harm will come to you if you mess up and get caught.

It is so simple for us to hide behind internet pixels.

But you have to ask your self. Am I hiding behind internet pixels or am I hiding from my real life morals?
